Junior Ski Program

Exciting things are happening with 2007/2008 Junior Nordic program. We are welcoming Jason Jablonski as our new head coach and the program has a new structure. We have something to offer for kids ages 4 and older who enjoy being outdoors and want to improve their skiing technique. The program offers instruction and coaching in classic and skating technique with the goal of developing lifetime skills, promoting fitness and health and having fun! Our program offerings are listed below.

Jack Rabbits

  • J6 & J5 (6 to 9 years)
  • Skate & frestyle fundamentals, intro to racing, fun!

This is an eight week program in January and February, ending with the Winter Carnival at Ski Hill. Kids are encouraged to give competition a try by attending local races with an option for the enthusiastic to attend regional events. Practices are twice per week.

Devo Racers

  • $100.00
  • J4 & J3 (10 to 13 years)
  • Technique refinement & racing skills

A ten week program from mid December through February with 3 practices per week. All participants are encouraged to compete in local and regional events. As we continue to refine techniques we will also begin to focus on understanding the difference between recreational and competitive skiing.

Senior Racers - Comp Team

  • $160.00
  • J2, JI & OJ (14 to 18 years)
  • Technique, racing skills & fitness training

This four month program consists of one month pre-season conditioning and strength training, and three months of skiing.  Participants attend three training sessions per week and are expected to race locally and regionally.

Senior Racers - Rec Team

  • $80.00
  • J2, JI & OJ (14 to 18 years)
  • Mastering skiing skills

This is 10 week program starting mid December and continuing through February.  Participants will attend two practices per week focusing on mastering skiing as a life skill in a non-competitive environment. Race attendance is optional.

Community Ski Program

$10.00

4 to 13 years

Skate & frestyle fundamentals, fun, non-competitive.

While not officially part of the LWSC Junior Program, children still have the oportunity to participate in the Community Ski Program. This is a three week program offered twice per year (January and February). Kids can repeat the session. Focus on learning basic skills through game playing on skis. Parents are encouraged participate but it is not required.
